I like the design of this scale, which seems to fit perfectly in my bathroom. E ‘reading was always accurate (without any fluctuations). I would recommend this unit for almost anyone. It ‘was my favorite so far.

This scale looks great for the price. (I took my up to Target for about $ 35.) I checked his results against a standard scale of balance, and so far the scale seems to be quite accurate. The only reason to climb 4 out of 5 stars is because of the way in which he sits, is too unbalanced. If you step too far off center, the whole scale has a tendency to fall. On more than one occasion I almost tipped the scale, and came dangerously close to breaking the glass surface. Other than that, this is a large scale that I would not hesitate to recommend.

I believe that this scale is 3 pounds more than the actual weight, but at least 3 times the weight does not show in a different way if I pass on it. So if your weight shows 105 pounds, the weight is actually 102 pounds. Overall, the scale seems very beautiful and elegant.

Great product. Functions exactly as described. Be aware that as of September 2007, the Omron Health Management software is not qualified for Windows Vista and documentation indicates it will only run on Windows 2000 and XP. Omron told me they do not have a plan for qualifying it on Vista at this time. However, I tried installing it on Vista, skipping the installation of .Net Framework Version 1.0 (because Vista’s .Net version at this time is 3.0). The installation proceeded without event and the software worked fine. Omron has a software update/documentation web presence where I assume a Vista-qualified version of software will be available when released.

Accuracy. My wife is a health care professional, and I am a software engineer. We own a HEM-790IT which we both use, and my wife has an Omron HJ-720IT pedometer, which she uses. Today we both took our BP using the Omron, then took it manually. The systolic was 4 low on the Omron, and the diastolic was 10 low on the Omron. We used the TruRead Mode, which takes three consecutive readings. We have found that this is more accurate than Single Mode. I would like to have it more accurate, but I find that all BP machines have some error, compared to manual reading, and this error is not too bad. At least it is consistent in reading low by the same amount. Software. I generally agree with the criticisms of other reviewers, about the software, but they are minor in nature, and I found the software to be reasonably adequate, and most people will enjoy using it. I installed the software on a Vista computer with no problems – use the install instructions for Windows XP. I agree with PajamaGuy – the data is kept in an Access database, which is password protected, and I am not given the password or any option to not have it password protected. I would like to be able to fix errors, such as when my wife or I take our BP with the wrong user selected. Most users will not want to use the Access database, so this will not matter to them.

OK, I got this cuff because I have a VERY picky physician. I haven’t been tracking my BP too well and was read the “riot act” in order to have me go and get a cuff. Well, he said that, no matter which cuff I got, HE would have to check it for accuracy, and that he rejects over half of all the cuffs he sees. BTW, don’t even think about getting a finger or wrist cuff. He rejects most all of them for inaccuracies of some sort. He also wanted me to email him my readings every month and he would call me in if he saw a problem trend. So I got this unit because it allows me to just download the readings and I could paste them into an email and everyone would be happy. And I got it from Amazon because they have an iron-clad return policy, just in case I needed to exercise it. Well, the day came that I sent in my first batch of readings and went in to have the unit (and me) checked. My doctor gave my cuff perfect marks. Its reading was within a couple points (dia/sys/pulse) of his personal reading taken a minute apart. He was also impressed with its trending features and alerts. He even wrote down the brand/model to pass on to other patients as the “doctor recommended” model of BP cuff. After all that, you may want to know how well the unit operates. Well, I don’t use the power adapter at all. Don’t even know why they include one. It’s been running strong on batteries since the day I got it (3 readings a day for 6 weeks now). When these batteries finally die, I’m glong to put in Li-Ions and see just how long they last. The cuff goes on easily and auto-inflates/deflates quickly without sacrificing accuracy. Once a week, I plug the base unit into a USB port on my computer and DL the data into the included “management” program. Overall, a pretty good program that slices/dices the data and displays it based on various criteria. I’m just scratching my head why it supports up to 1000 users, but OK. Except for the initial programming of the time/date/etc., I did ALL this without cracking the manual. I’m happy, my doctor’s happy, nuff said.

I haven’t had the chance to conpare this unit to the readings at the doctors office (taking them at the same time). But I have taken readings at the drug store and then 5 min later taking it at home. It does seem to give true readings. They has never been any really off readings. No wild swings.
It is very easy to use and comes with good instructions and a nice carrying case. Makes it easy to take on vacation with you. AC adapter makes it where you don’t have to worry about dead batteries.

As a primary care physician, I’ve seen a lot of BP monitors that my patients bring to the office to check for accuracy and other features. This one seems to be the best. The easy to apply cuff, auto inflation, its accuracy, the memory, the averaging feature, the AC converter all make it worth the slightly higher price over other Omrons, which I consider the most accurate brand. Since I too have high blood pressure, I decided to buy one myself!

I work for a major rx chain, have sold many of these models. This one is the best of the omron line. The cuff is awesome, easy to wrap around the arm. We sell this unit for 1oo bucks. I should have bought mine at amazon.

Omron HR-100C Heart rate monitor: This is my third heart rate monitor. The previous two were Polar heart rate monitors, first was labeled T31, the second was labeled FS1. They were essentially identical with a slight variation of the watch packaging. The newer package was no improvement in my estimation. They both use the T31 chest transmitter. I have never been very happy with the Polar units because they have always been unreliable under conditions when I need them the most: Long distance running pacing. I have been using heart rate monitors for approx 8 years and have talked to other users and have tried all of the tricks to make the readings less erratic. Maybe it’s just my body.
Using water to wet the chest electrode contacts or using medical electrode gel only resulted in minor improvements. The basic problem for me is after about 15 minutes of running the chest transmitter fails to send a reliable signal to the watch readout.
Here is what I know: If you have low body fat you will have more reliable readings. If you have average to above average body fat you need to use electrode gel. I was able to buy an Omron HR-100C for less than the cost of replacing the batteries in my Polar units.
The Omron has a better electrical design for the chest electrodes. The Omron chest electrodes have a significantly larger contact area than the Polar T31. I believe this provides for a more reliable signal pickup.
The Omron HR-100C has proved to be much more reliable on my body than the Polar. I still wet the sensors with water and the the pulse rate has been reliable for my entire exercise run of 40 to 60 minutes. A huge plus is the fact that you can replace the battery in the transmitter yourself. No skill needed. The wristwatch battery can be replaced by you if you have some skills using jewelers screwdrivers. The wristwatch battery usually lasts longer than the chest transmitter battery- at least with the Polar models. I haven’t had the Omron long enough to tell if the same is true.
Also the Omron watch has more functions than my low end Polar models. The Omron chest transmitter works fine with both of my Polar watches and the local gym equipment.
A note on electrode gel: Many oil free lotions work as good as electrode gel. Look for lotions containing such things as alpha-hydroxy, citrus juices. Some of the lotions are actually more conductive than electrode gel and work for periods long enough to get a good workout. Put the gel or lotion on your body where the electrodes will be placed. Don’t put directly on the electrodes.

I use this heart rate monitor for working out. The strap is comfortable and seems durable. The treadmill tries to pick up the signal, but it sometimes gives a different reading from the wrist watch, so I always use the latter. I wish the wrist watch were smaller, sleeker, and more stylish, but it serves its purpose.

Omron HJ-720ITC Review
What an impressive little device this is. The device is highly accurate on the waistband. The purse option hasn’t really worked too well for us, but it does come close. The coolest part of this thing is the ability to download the information to your PC and track your progress and goals. When we first got it, we thought 10,000 steps was a breeze. We were way WRONG! 10,000 steps is a lot of walking. I mean a lot. We were coming up more than half short of the recommended 10,000 and didn’t even realize it.
It’s very sleek in it’s design. The overall look is that of an egg cut in half. It does not have a proprietary USB link, if you have a device with a smaller USB end rather than the standard (MP3 players and GPS devices sometimes use the smaller one) you can use an existing one, just in case you lose the one that is supplied.
It’s really sweet that it resets itself at midnight every day and stores your previous data for you to download at your convenience.

I have not used pedometers much, but really like this unit for a number of reasons. First, it is quite compact and can comfortably fit in a pocket and not feel bulky (you can wear with a clip too or hang it from a cord off a belt). Second, it really seems to accurately count steps. I tried it a few times by counting 50 or 100 steps with the unit in my pocket and it seems to be right on target as a step counter. To measure distance, I walked a 100 feet a couple of times to set my stride. With the stride in place, the distance measure seems pretty accurate. I walked a known distance (about a mile and a half) and then looked at both the step count and distance. The distance was a little short, which meant I needed to make a slight adjustment to the value of the stride. I made the same walk again and got the calculated distance was exactly on target.
Conclusion: This is an accurate pedometer in terms of counting steps and estimating distance.

Having purchased several cheap and medium priced pedometers over the years, I am very happy with the Omron HJ-112. Other pedometers fall off easily or have buttons that, when moving or bending can be bumped and erase all the info for the day. This Omron doesn’t do that. Plus, it automatically resets itself at midnight!When I first looked at this pedometer in the summer of 2008, it was selling for around $100 but is now down to a reasonable price.

This is my third purchase of this particular pedometer. I bought the other two for family members who really liked mine. It is easy to operate and very good at keeping me walking at least 10,000 steps a day. It is a great motivator for keeping healthy.

This is by far the most accurate pedometer I have ever used, and I’ve used a few. The common problem with most pedometers is that they have to be clipped on your belt or on your pants pocket. The most common issue is that the pedometer becomes unclipped and bounces to it’s death on the floor. This pedometer drops right into your pocket. I have managed to keep this one running (with only a battery replacement) for well over a year.
